William Wilson & Son Sterling Silver Naturalist Fish Server — Floral & Spiderweb Engraving

A heavy, solid sterling silver fish server by William Wilson & Son, marked on the reverse with the maker's stamp — a 'W' within a triangle — along with 'STERLING' and factory number 217. The broad, curved blade features deeply engraved naturalist decoration: a large open flower with radiating petals, a spiderweb with radiating lines, and leafy foliage. The engraving continues across the full length of the handle, which is densely worked with repeating floral and foliate motifs in the same naturalist style. The handle reverse is engraved with the personal name 'Pilling.' The piece measures approximately 10.5 inches long by 2.5 inches wide and weighs 122 grams. The overall design — naturalist flora, spiderweb motif, and dense surface engraving — is consistent with the Aesthetic Movement style popular in the 1880s–1890s; dated here to approximately 1890. Light age-appropriate patina and surface wear consistent with antique use.
