Vintage Taxco, Mexico sterling silver brooch in a highly detailed conch shell form. The piece is rendered in the round with deeply sculpted, naturalistic ridges, spines, and fluted edges that capture the organic texture of a real conch shell. The finish is bright polished silver-tone with areas of natural oxidation in the recesses that enhance the sculptural depth. A standard pin-stem finding is fitted to the reverse. Marked on the back: Mexico TD-60 and 925. Heavy and substantial at 26 grams. Measures approximately 2.25 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. Good vintage condition.
