Antique sterling silver mote spoon by J.E. Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia. The elongated handle is decorated with repoussé and chased Rococo-style scrollwork and foliate motifs running its full length, terminating in a shaped finial with matching ornament. The deep, pear-shaped bowl is fully reticulated — pierced in an elaborate pattern of scrolls, volutes, and dot perforations — a hallmark feature of the mote spoon form, historically used to skim floating tea leaves or spices from a cup. A figural cartouche accent appears at the bowl-to-handle junction. Marked STERLING on the reverse and bearing the J.E. Caldwell & Co. maker's mark. Measures 8.5 inches long by 1.3 inches wide at the bowl. Weighs 24 grams. Good condition with fine period detailing throughout; light patina consistent with age.
