A heavy and beautifully detailed antique sterling silver berry spoon dating to the early 20th century. The large, scallop-edged bowl features a richly embossed composition of fruit — including what appear to be apples and berries — surrounded by flowers and foliage in high relief. The handle continues the same naturalistic theme, densely embossed with flowers, leaves, and berries along its full length, terminating in a rounded floral finial. The overall effect is lush and three-dimensional, consistent with the ornate repoussé-style flatware popular in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. Marked STERLING on the underside along with an additional maker's mark that is not fully identified. Measures 8.9 inches long and approximately 3 inches wide at the bowl. Weighs 117 grams. In good condition with age-appropriate patina and toning.
