Antique Georgian period solid sterling silver handled mug, hallmarked for London, 1824, by silversmith Edward Farrell. The baluster-form body is richly embossed and chased overall with bold floral and scrolling foliate decoration in the Rococo Revival taste characteristic of Farrell's work. The scroll handle features shell and foliate terminals. The interior retains a gold wash. Un-monogrammed. Measures 4.55" tall by approximately 4.5" total width including handle. Total weight 226 grams. Condition: a few minor dents consistent with age and use — notably a minor fold-style dent to one side; please see photos.
